Just for comparisons I weighed the following motors this arvo
inc. oil pumps, no oil, unopened top to bottom, waterpumps excluding fly/clutch and ringears, ex alt and starter.

NCWC (non counterweight cranks) FCWC (Full ...)
A10 datsun 1000 (988cc) = 60 kg
A15 datsun vanette (1490cc) = 70 kg
G13B suzuki swift gti FCWC = 58kg
G13A suzuki swift NCWC = 51kg
G13BB Suzuki Carry/jimny FCWC = 55kg
G16A Suzuki Vitara 16v (1590cc) = 53 kg
G16B same as above but FCWC = 55 kg
M18A Suzuki Liana with FCWC = 69 kg
M18A as above knige edged crank & single pulley = 66kg

Obviously not a Datto, but close cousin.

Keep wondering, whats the potential to do a mid/rear type bike engine setup in a 1200 ute.

what a steal!

I sold my 304/TH700R4/9inch mild custom FE wagon a couple of years back. Still a member of the NSW club tho.

Built a couple for other people since including a chopped FB wagon (with side glass!)

I will probably do a chopped FB sedan after the 1200 ute as I have left over V8 running gear and lots of bits to use.

Cheers

Ed

Personally a billet version of a Dunstan RVH will always get my hard earned cash
for either an L series or suzuki J20 engine.

I know they might have sealing issues but what a small trip of a head
Dunstan had the grey six revving over 10,000rpms for some quick spurts
just to show how little crank hp it needed to spin.

Further interesting reading with a cup of hot earl grey on a wintery arvo
