A15 is higher about 15mm millimeter higher than A12.

But the sump is in the same place. Only the rocker cover is higher compared to the motor mount bracket.

I also had what seamed like a lot of space between crossmember and sump. I,m using a ute crossmember and I heard somewhere that they mount an a15 higher.....I would think about 10mm-15mm space or less would be what the standard engine would be fitted at.
Remember that my mounts are aftermarket and made from nolathane, very simple in design, all they are is a piece of nolathane with one bolt running through the centre....will put a pic up in the next couple of days if you want.

thanks, i just measured both the A12 & A15 mounts I have & they are respectively 42.78 MM & 46.86 MM - about 4MM difference or approx. 3/16", that right there would help if an A12 mount will hold up to an A15 motor - not sure.

But....if those mazda mounts are really 35MM thats much better already, then if I have to go lower I can slot the mounts to allow the motor to slide down. I also have approx. an 1" plus of clearance to the crossmember.

Those mounts look like they will do the job, just ask them how tall they are and then measure you own mount. If i remember correctly the standard datsun mounts are about 45mm tall, the mounts I brought are after market nolathane mounts and are 35mm tall. Happy to help....Jas

so i was looking at Rockauto at RX 7 mounts & its hard to tell how much difference there is between them, I may just go to NAPA or schucks & bring an A series mount with me to compare.

It still sounds like the mount bracket need some kind of mod to make these fit as well, is that right?

RX-7 engine mounts are easy to find in usa

Is the idea that they are thinner than the 1200 mounts, so engine sits lower?

Also the mazda 929 and 626 using the MA engine had the same rotary mounts.
Much cheaper and easier to find. Good luck edp with the mounts its your
first and most important part of solving the other issues.
You could also go for land rover mounts as "Nick" pigdog has used on his custom ca.

Datsss - which year & model mazda mounts did you use - RX7 ? That also seems like a good idea if I can just swap mounts.

You best lower the engine till you get the sump about 12-15mm from the crossmember.
Do you know how much space you have there?
If you dont sort you mounting issues everything will be out and will cost more in
the end to make sure everything misses.
You might be able to keep everything.

At worst if you spend 120-150 USD you can do what Tommo and some others have done
and just get someone to fit the twin master cylinder under the dash.
You then will be able to fit whatever you like in the future if the single sidey
aint enough or to your liking, efi and who knows but its cheaper in the end for
future mods or fitments.

I used mazda rotary mounts, there a very simple mount with no offset....I fitted them by drilling out the locater hole in the bracket. It can be done with the engine still in the engine bay.
