Always good practice to brace the floor when doing a chop like that. The windscreen in my coupe cracked when I cut my tunnel so since then I have always braced. A ute you can probably get away with it but why risk it for the sake of saving a few tack welds? :)

You dont need to chop the tunnel of a 1200 ute when using a ca18de ,iys a tighter fit but its doable ,just need to massage the tunnel near the seat rails
Its abit too much work realy just for abit of extra room around the box

quick question guys, is any type of structual bracing required when cutting out and changing the tunnel on and 1200 ute. dont want it to twist or bend. Ute's completely bare shell.
