we've already got a thread on motorcycle motors
http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/v ... =ASC&type=&mode=0&start=0 imo i don't think you'll ever be able to "launch hard" if its not the clutch that lets go it will be something else, and you only use it to get going.

here is one of many ToyoBusa's (Starlet / Hayabusa)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afLBp_3Md-A&feature=related its using the stock Hayabusa gearbox with a vr4 drive shaft on the drive sprocket and going to a toyota gearbox with only 4th gear and reverse.. so you leave it in 4th and shift with the busa box and then put it in neutral with the busa box and then engage reverse with the toyota box, genius! ![]()

i have been researching this allot
easy way to get reverse... add large electric starter motor from diesel truck to gear welded to rear drive shaft, been done... hard way, remove the hayabusa gears from the gear box housing, create a custom output shaft to go into any rwd gearbox you want.. http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_articl ... hell-we-are-thinking.aspx i have seen 600hp hayabusa engines (turbo charged) the main thing is from what i have read, the hayabusa clutch is a reduced ratio clutch (6:1 or something), so you gotta replace it with one that is: a) strong enough to handle the increased weight b) one that doesnt have a reduction ratio I am interested to see this thing actually run flat out, make some hard launched and skids.. before i get my hopes up, but some guys with MK1 golfs and Lotus 7's etc use this swap allot with great results..

If you go through the trouble of fitting a hayabusa
engine then you could just use a modified transfer box to run the high rear in reverse. It would be cheaper than a quaife You can view topic.
