Sorry, just realised the idler has the hole and the draglink has the taper pin, so hit the idler arm bang on the end where the pin goes through it.
You leave the nut on to protect the thread should you accidently hit it or slip with your aim ![]() basically you are trying to break the taper fit of the pin and the idler, the shock does this without damaging the rubber etc.

so hit towards the nut so it doesnt go flying off yeah?
would it be better to use a blunt chisel or a piece of hard wood and hi tthat to knock it off too? or does it really need the metal on metal shock? it is a hard angle to hit

Loosen the nut, leaving it covering the end of the thread.
Get a big hammer and hit the draglink right where the idler taper pin passes through it at a right angle, a big smack, repeat until it comes loose. Don't miss and hit the idler (or anything else) ![]()

hi guys, any1 got any ideas on how to seperate the idler arm off the draglink. without damaging the rubber o-ring/ rubber sleeve.
or can you buy that o-ring/ sleeve. iv had a bit of a go at it with a puller. but its at a odd angle.. i know ill get it off at work with the a bit of heat and the press. but ill damage the rubber. You can view topic.
