Guys, this is a bike carb onto A-series thread, not injection onto A-series thread.

Just bought an airbox from a 91 ZZR600 for $30, came with better ram tubes than the 2001 carbs had. The 01 model ramtube base plate is an odd shape and the tubes are short and angled into the centre of the plate/carbs. The 91 model ones are basically double the length and straight, and the baseplate is a nice straight rectangular design which will be easy to make an airfilter adapter/plenum for.

The ZZR airboxes for these are huge, I doubt they will fit under the bonnet of a Datto. So I'm opting for the plenum running to a pod filter idea over unifilters/socks because of the price, socks/foam filters are dirty cnts (oiled type), and you'll only be sucking in power-sapping hot air from the extractors/exh mani below.

I did some calculations and found the pipe running to the pod will need to be 86mm ID, so I'll need to find a pod with a 4in flange on it and make an adapter. The pipe to the filter, plenum, and intake manifold pipes will be made from 1.6mm mild steel which I will roll into shape and TIG together.

I need to find someone who will laser/plasma-cut a mild steel intake flange to make my intake manifold with. There's a guy on eBay selling stainless ones, but being an intake, it's pretty unsafe to be running stainless due to cracking after heat cycling. I've asked him a couple of times if he would make a mild steel one(s), but can't get a straight answer out of him.

I also need to figure out how far away the sides of the plenum will need to be placed away from the ram tubes for the best performance, any suggestions?

You have fun putting your quad bike carbs on anything bigger than the little datsun then

I just got some ZZR600 carbies (CVK Keihin's) for 175 posted, 2001 model bike so they are pretty clean. Hey Chris, do you do those stainless intake flanges for the A-series in mild steel?

Keep telling yourself that. Bike throttle bodies are just as effective, less the expense and less the necessity for a $300.00 DCOE/DHLA/PHH manifold

I picked up some R6 injection off the US ebay. Brought and shipped for $75 with most of that price being the shipping.

Some pictures of a set up I'm working on (not that I've had time to do anything for a few weeks). I got some carbide burrs for my rotary tool today to start port matching and the airbox is in the works. Really not that hard to knock up with one of CLYONS (Chris) manifold flanges and some exhaust pipe. Exhaust pipe's measured by the outside diameter and has a wall thickness of 1.6mm (Generally) meaning ID is 3.2mm smaller than OD.

Or instead of wasting $950 (assuming thats second hand or just bare throttles) you could get a complete set of gsxr750 or 1000 throttle bodies for $160 that do the same thing but are lighter and less cluttered. Then you just need to make a manifold. Heaps better than efi hardware rip off #OOPS#
