I have here in Brisbane for sale a H190 complete disc brake rear end, shortened to 1350 flange to flange, set up for leaf springs, with leaf mounts at 975mm centre to centre, and a panhard bar mount welded to housing, axles are the 29 spline 30 mm axles, and the Alloy centre is welded, with a 4.625 ratio H190 crownwheel and pinion fitted. All lines are DOT approved braided, comes with two sets of discs, and one set of R31 calipers for handbrake requirements, and one set of Commodore calipers for bigger brake pads fitment, but no handbrake.

give me a call any time David - I've got plenty of the things sitting in the shed, if you want a look at the size/weight of the centres in the bw diffs (I've got a couple of h165s so could do a side by side comparison if you want)

I agree with the hilux, its not for everybody
eg, lighting the tyres with over 600hp but for
most applications its awesome and like Don stated
doesnt rob you of like 20hp :)
Didnt know the hilux have already available
aftermarket alloy carriers any links?

The borg warner is the cheapest and easiest to
find at the wreckers from LTDs or skylines but
after taking one out recently I could believe
how much cast iron is on the casing and how
small the centre itself is! Its like a seed
in a peach!! anyone know how small the borgy
centre is as I was surprised bigtime.

The Borg Warner diff is convenient for a conversion due to the stud pattern but the Hilux diff has by far the most aftermarket centers and ratios available And you can get aftermarket ratio's too. Not to mention you can get alloy and even mag housings for them from the states. For a light car, the 9" is way overkill and absorbs more power due to the pinion sitting so low which is not cool for a smaller donk. V8's don't mind.

I got a locked r31 in my ca ute have no probs with it. You got plently of options man. If money wasn't a option I'll go the 9"

Depends on your aims tyres and driving styles. A late 120y diff will cope with 250rwhp+ on basic street tyres but if you run slicks or something it will last about two seconds.

If you are going to the trouble of a conversion them a bw or hilux will be plenty. A 9" is overkill unless you're aiming for 9s or better.

Hilux is the way to go. axles as big as a 9" but smaller centre and less weight. also lots of ratios and a wide range of LSD/lockers

If it's in a datsun 1200 then I'd suggest the borg warner diff, with 28 spline axles should cope with enough grunt to make sub 9 second 1/4 mile runs.

BUT - the big thing I love about the ford 9" is the centre is removable, so if you want to change ratios, or run one with a spool at the strip and one on the street with an lsd and different ratio or whatever - you can do it easy. the borgwarner, you have to set the gears up in the housing each time (or swap entire housings).

I still run bw diffs on the charger, since I've got a stockpile of housings, gearsets and lsd centres for them, but I ran ford 9" diffs on the last few toranas I had, and never thought twice about it.
