Retard the timing slightly, might loose slight performance but will start up easier. Had same issue with a12a twin Su I used to have..... Then it detonated

thanks chaps--unfamilia yea lol i used hacksaw blade for the plug gap & nothing wrong with the dissy. dd-- i checked the dissy out[after start prob] and that is what i saw.no idea why chap at dyno set it like that. was very p^&*( off. The fuel pump packed up and i changed it for a facet pump but now got no fuel pressure. gonna change again and check. just want it to start quicker.

what should this setting be It should be about halfway between the R and A ![]() But this is entirely up to the installer of the distributor. When installing the dizzy, make sure it is in between. If they didn't do that, it is allowable to swing it much farther to compensate. For static timing, you want 5 to 15 degrees BTDC at idle with vacuum line disconnected.

Should be using spark plugs not hacksaw blades, they fit better and conduct energy much better
![]() Why is it so advanced? Did they have to lean it out cause too much fuel? If you know the hall effect disk is wrong, of course timing and tune will be out. No vacuum leaks?? Obviously won't start as timing too far advanced.

A15 with t/bodies and ecu--been on the dyno etc. I checked the dissy and the set-up looks wrong[it's hall type].this chap at the dyno advanced the dissy so far it lines up with the 'A' which indicates advance. what should this setting be.no probs once its started but u have to swing & swing. plug gaps are hacksaw blade thickness.fueling not sure.checked plugs --slight brown in the middle & black outer. any ideas?
