not trying to bang on you here buy why take everything to a mechanic? You'll learn & save money by doing it yourself.
Its 35 yr old tech.,you cant screw too many things up so bad by not knowing what your doing so go for it - take it apart, use the books & diagrams on the site & you'll be fine. Just be cautious & dont beat things apart w/hammers, etc... This is how you will learn what makes your car tick! Good luck!

Hi Guys
Searched to find a Dwell meter at the most prominent auto tool dealer, they don't have it so i not sure whether i can buy 1 from here ,Any way i took my car to regular mechanic he told me that it is something wrong with the throttle shaft of the carburetor that it does not run slow, since my financial is poor at the moment i took my b210 carburetor to him to take down throtal part until i buy a carburetor or that part later, last time i had a similar issue in my b210 carb and i could sorted it out after re bushing carburetor throttle shaft and putting new doors for it.he is in the process of installing it now . thanks regards sumith

Yes, that is similar to the DMM (digital multi-meter) that I use. But mine is less expensive and does not have the tach or dwell functions.
I do not know if that brand is reliable.

Settings for the a series should be same for a12 or very similar. With ac and anti dieseling I'd use the b310 one-

Do what Dave suggests - I mean half the fun of hot rodding is tinkering isn't it? Buy what he suggested & learn how to time & tune your engine. Once you understand those processes you'll be better at diagnosing other issues as well. Its all about experience & you only get that by doing.

If it ran well with higher idle set it like that. I had one wouldn't idle less than 900rpm my old a15 with cam and su's idled better at 1000rpm. Sure it's higher than factory but hey I was happy and the car felt happy too

Sumith, it sounds like your engine has more than one problem.
The spark timing should be set to a known value (like 10 BTDC) instead of just guessing, backing it off, advancing it forward. Because: * static timing is the foundation of engine tuning. It should not be guessed at. * it could be affecting the other problems. Once you have all the problems fixed, then backing it off, advancing it "by ear" would be OK for fine tuning. I recommend you get a repair manual, RPM gauge and dwell meter (new $25 USD) -- and do it yourself. Then you'll know how it's done and won't have to rely on a mechanic who so far hasn't solved your problems. Just take it one step at a time, until all the settings are correct and the problems solved one at a time.

advance the timing a little bit and see if it helps. to advance, turn di distributor counter clockwise.
