The boots are expensive here, about half the price of new joints. The same applies to the inner and outer tie-rod ends.
For adjustment of the steering gear, see Steering Gearbox Adjustment. I think the plastic nut is for filling the gear oil.

These are the Ball Joints. You can replace the rubber dust cover, but I would simply grease them on schedule every 12 months. When they finally wear out, the replacement ball joints will come with new dust covers.
Quote: To determine if they are good, rotate them in every direction. They should be firmly attached, not loose, and move smoothly with little effort and no binding.

Hi Guys
Yesterday i removed front tie rod sets and shock absorbers and steering box, what type of service can be done to make these parts work smooth, Specially can i service my Steering box ? I see a plastic nut(red Arrowed) on the steering box for what it is about ? and any body has an idea how much does it costs to put these rubber parts(blue Arrowed) to the new tie rod set ? thanks regards sumith You can view topic.
