A mate of mine went to fiji for his honeymoon, and he bought back lots of photos of extremely rusty 1200 utes. And I mean rusty! They were sagging in the middle.

As promised... I didn't see any Datsuns in New Ireland, but a couple in Moresby. The wreck was at PNG Art, the other one was in a shopping centre car park. The dudes driving it were pretty chuffed that I wanted to take photos.

Please do. I have seen a fair few 1200 utes in PM, there is even one parked outside the international terminal staff car park.

As for New Ireland there are only a couple of wrecks heading to Namatanai. There was talk of a 240z there but I haven't seen it there and I work there a fair bit.

such a shame that they are sitting outside in the weather ,lwb utes should be rescued and shipped to oz where all the parts are!

if only there was as many lwb utes over here as there are in PNG!

Perhaps Datsun in the South Pacific - would be a better title? Or Datsuns in the Pacific Islands?

Well these aren't anything like that beauty but hey, it's the pacific and the environment is tough.

Here are a serious of Datsuns all salvaged for repair and resto. They used to be extremely popular here but the difficulty of getting spares has seen many of them simply parked and left. Of the good condition ones I have seen parked most of the problems are bad carby or bad dizzie. Yes, even those parts are hard to find here.

Anyway, some images:
