#4 Re: Worked a15 in sunny sedan

Thanks for your input Wilfred.

I plan to use it in an approx 40 KM Race, (100 laps of an approx 400m track) it will be flogged the whole time so im thinking that it may not last.

Although in other events it will have less stress, but i have been thinking for a long term solution, i may have to chase up a stronger box.

Rallytwit

Its a speedway circut, but not oval. Its changed into a "dog leg" shape for this particular event.

Your right, it has nothing to do with rally but i put it in there as a way to appeal to the rally people and there opinions, which may sound stupid to you....

There are no gear changes, its simply you have a rolling start as you know and you continue on. Throughout the race there are no gear changes, you simply stay in second gear.

I have a couple of the vanette boxes.

Now i know nothing about them, but what i do know is that they are a collumn shift box but i have seen people make adaptor plates so you can use them as a floor shift.

Do you know anything about the Vanette box? Are they somewhat stronger?

Thanks for your help guys and if anyone else can spare some knowledge it'd be greatly apreciated.

Define the use a little bit better. Rally and Speedway are wildy different............Rally, standing starts washboard and pot hole surface. Speedway / dirt track as we know it in the USA is rolling starts car and no shifting involved (gearing change to suit track) That will make a big difference in set up and how things hold together. Now of course I would say H165 and 60 series box.

My 2 cents....

the 56A will work but wont last. Same for the H150. H165 at least.

Hey fellas.

Im considering building a worked a15 and putting it in my sunny race car.

Mods i plan to do to the engine are

bore it out probably 60 - 80 thou oversize or whatever i can get pistons to fit
flat top pristons
lighten crankshaft
run 1000 flywheel
ported GX head
extractors
some form of webbers
and whatever other mods i come accross.

It will be used for rally/dirt/speedway type events.

My main question is what gearbox and diffs shall i use.

Can i get away with the 56a (i think) standard sunny gearbox?

Or will it be too much for the gearbox?

Also, is the H150 sunny Diff strong enough?

Or must i upgrade to a H150?

Your thoughts, suggestions and experience would be extremley greatful, thankyou :D
