also need to remember that bluebird rear brakes are pretty large and you need at least 14s to fit over them
otherwise r31 stuff is pretty easy to adapt. doing the handbrake cables is harder though, or at least i say that coz i've never got around to doing the handbrake cables on anything i've put r31 rear brakes onto stanza or bluebird tailshaft is the way to go, need to shorten them though

You don't need an l series shaft(at least not a 2 peice), a auto h150 shaft from a 120y or b310 will work too.
The h150 diff flange works on a h165 and the auto input shaft matches the 63a box. You will most likely need to get it shortened and balanced too. Unless you get a stanza tail shaft that had a h175 in rear only the input flange into gear box will be any good to you

i bought a ute diff ~5 years ago and a phantom grip LSD for the 165 about 4 yrs ago and its time to get it in my coupe. ive been looking around wreckers for bluebird/etc rear brakes but no luck yet, so I ask the club.. ive bought all new bearings and oil seals so far. the 1200 ute axle is complete with brake lines.
looking for: -rear discs + calipers to hopefully bolt on to ute axle -any of the other parts needed for the conversion eg handbrake cable bits -L series tailshaft (to go into 63A box, current tailshaft is wrong length for 165 w/ phantomgrip) -new or newish rear shock absorbers (current ones are pretty crap and were recycled) i can put up pics of the axle and spring loaded locker if it helps.. ive had loads of trouble taking off the stock diff housing too ; are there any tricks apart from heating it up? unfamilia: thx I think I'm using a shortened stanza shaft ATM so another one of those would work. pigdog: thx as well, I will likely go with a stanza, they are everywhere.. Yes i have 14's :) You can view topic.
