E-series pattern is supposed to be very similar to the A-series pattern so maybe you could start with a standard Aseries gear box for fitment.

Did he come up with a gearbox/clutch/flywheel setup? Didn't catch it all while going through the pages.

The advantages that I can think of off the top of my head would be;

- Lighter engine - I lifted the engine by myself easily out of a wheel barrow and onto the ground.
- Newer efi technology - would lean to easier turbo conversion as well.

Taking nothing away from the A14, but eventually there won't be making A14s left, so newer options are always appealing if they make $$$ sense.

The main problems with this swap:
1. Not any more powerful than a built A14
2. Starter doesn't fit
3. Sump doesn't fit

But on the other hand it's 50 lbs lighter than an A12 and is 42% more powerful.

The trouble is that Revhead moved or deleted the photos, for example the ones in Post 3

Any way to get the photos from this thread? Just got myself a CR14DE and wanted to see the pics of what Revhead did.

If an antiquated mini A engines of 1100cc and vw 1200cc 36hp flat fours can make 100hp atw with a 4agze sc12 with a 40mm weber or SU then an datto A12 can make 100atw easily. A CR14DE with its full capacity and sc14 from 1ggze would be perfect 1:1 ratio matched capacity big cahuna hp and torque with revability that no A series could match from factory in terms of the smoothness of the architecture, isotropic finished crank & other modern techniques used in the CR. Now if only an easy box solution can be had theres 30kg weight savings in CR engine alone over cast iron A.

i wonder if supercharger could be modified to suit a-series.35hp is a big upgrade esp for a12.plus the supercharger sound...
