Totally agree hard to source in Oz but not in other countries.
Revvs, Since the CR conversion you are doing is so light and even Le Mans going for a 475kg lightweight to compete in the big field then I makes sense to make the 1000 even lighter. Can you weigh the cr14de head for me to see is compared to the A series just for interests sake? Bakat, The ATDC is interesting considering its a hemi chamber, I wonder if the crank centre is offset to the bores also like modern engines?

While I won't dissagree that they are an interesting setup, it does seem that they are not easily sourced. For me that rules them out as a conversion candidate. If I could go to any Nissan wrecker and get one it'd be a different story though.

according to wiki, the stock timing is 2 degree ATDC, because of the very fast combustion. this is the first time i've ever know there ATDC combustion exist.

The AMR500 seem to be sourced from japan without the engine.
They just rip them off and send them here I did run into 2 ma10et and the ma09ert at EKW years ago but havent seem them in a while.

So in other words, it is not an engine that is easily accessed these days? It seems that the AMR500's are all over ebay but what of the motor they come off?

73mm liners avail. as for A12 series so it could possibly be taken 75mm
http://www.ep-motor.com/product.php?p ... alRows_product=761&mid=2# The Ma12s is common overseas, they are supposed to be around 42kg and designed for a formula Nissan but can no longer find the info. Its more of a mass produced AY like setup. If only I could find the RWD formula Nissan articles it was used in! http://retrorides.proboards.com/index ... action=print&thread=36857 some lovely carbs and manifold for the Ma12s

What I'd like to know is what model car they come from, how common are they and are they easy to get parts for?

They are smaller than the E series due to bore spacing and the fact they fit into small engine bays like the figaro, march and other cutte little Nissan micros.
Would be good get the march super turbo ma09et gearbox as it has viscous lsd and then the ma12et block then run the ma10et turbo only gear. You can view topic.
