if you use a pipe bender (including the beer can variety) it won't kink and degas. Just do it slowly.

get one of those u-shaped water pipe benders that plumbers use. these are also handy for small adjustments when the job is almost finished : http://www.aeroflowperformance.com/im ... ht_weight_tube_bender.jpg

thanks for that.
I suspected that heating thelines, bieng aliminium would spell trouble, but you never know. Ill give it a go with the beer can trick. Sounds reasonable. Sure DD, I know I could kink a line, but the alternative is that I unbolt the lines a degas and get a custom line made up. Thats the ideal solution. Im trying to save that cash and bend the lines. If it kinks and degasses, well I havent lost anything.

You would? It's an easy way to kink the line.

DO NOT HEAT THE AIRCON LINES!!!!!!!!
The trick to it, is slowly slowly, and dont just grab and yank. The more area you can spread the force over, the less chance you have of causing a kink. so if you can use something with a good diameter, you should be fine (I have done this using the outside of a full unopened beer can on the inside. Personally I would attempt any smaller turn radius without a brake line bender or similar)

Generally, you need a pipe bender. Don't apply heat.

Has anyone ever had to bend aircon lines?
Im doing turbo mods to my Patrol na I need to bend at least one aircon line to make stuff fit. The lines are still gassed and on the car. Basicallym If I can bend them on the car and it doesent leak, WIN. No expense required. If I bend them and they split, or leak otherwise, well, getting a custom pipe made up was inevitable anyways so I dont really have much to lose by having a go. Anyone have any tricks? SUre I could just pull on the lines until they are at the right spot, but should I crack out the oxy to help a bit to avoid kinks or what ever. You can view topic.
