Closing off an older post....
Finally got around to pulling it off. Ended up being a spacer someone made from an old housing to enable a 1200 thermostat housing that doesnt clear the alternator bracket. There was also not thermstat fitted. Went to upullit and bought correct housing and thermostat $8.. cheap fix! also got a bonnet latch thrown in as well!

Thanks for sorting the pics out ddgonzal.
Will whip it off this weekend and have a look - i think something funny must be going on with the thermostat to fit it correctly in the housing. Have only had the 120y for a month or so - previous owners redid the head/head gasket and radiator - so i know its been tampered with a bit.

there are two gaskets? It looks like two gaskets to me. Clean the head face and themostat housing face well, and use one new gasket. No sealer is required. Just make sure you get every last bit of old gasket off. Use some alcohol to soften the old gasket bits. Scrape them off, but don't scar the aluminum. But in this photo, it looks like the housing is cracked. You'll know once you remove it. When tightening the bolts, do not overtighten. Small bolts need small torque. ![]()

that spacer is surely not standard, i would think this is an adapter to use a different thermostat or the head is damaged and the adapter holds the thermostat in place

not sure about the spacer, but i know o. mine i just used a gasket with some gasjey sealent on either side.
also i had one leak, turned out it was the actual thermo housing itself... so check for cracks when u pull it off...

My thermostat housing is leaking - i need to top up radiator every week or so.
Before i take it apart - daily drive havent had any time yet - it looks like there is a spacer between the housing and the head - there are two gaskets? What is the deal with this? if anyone can enlighten me before i take it apart, much appreciated.
