The old owner must have had a different steering column/steering box installed. As far as I know, all of the 1200's came with the same small spline steering wheel. I too wish they had used the 1600 (510) sized spline.
Any chance of scanning a picture of the steering wheel? Or taking a digital photo for us to see? Chris

a puller for this is real easy to make or have made. I took a small rectangular piece of steel and drilled 3 holes. 2 holes are 45mm apart and 8mm in dia. They line up with the M8 threaded holes on either side of the steering shaft. The 3rd hole is in between the first two and it lines up with the steering shaft. The 3rd hole was drilled 6.8mm and tapped with an M8x1.25 tap.
Now, center this thing over the steering shaft and holes. Screw two bolts, M8x1.25 in either side and with the one bolt in the middle, screw that in till it pulls off the wheel. Angelo (did that make any sense?maybe i should stop posting messages late at night when im tired) I'll email a picture to you [ Edited by ang94541 on 2002/4/14 23:28:40 ]

A bearing puller, is the best thing. Nissan used to use a special tool. I find wd40 or someother penetrating lubricant, will help.
You need to remove the horn cover with the 2 screws from underneath, then get a tire bar or large socket to remove the nut and washers from the steering wheel centre. If you have the corregated (collapsible) steering column, then don't use a hammer to bump the wheel off. Also don't bash it with your fists, it will also break the delicate nylon locks in the collapsible section. Good luck Chris
