I have a 120Y too,and my factory manual for the year 76 says both coupes and sedans weight the same,also both have the same dimmensions.Somebody said that the coupe has a heavy hatch door,that is true,but what the sedan saves in the hatch,brings it back with the trunk lid,and the rear window frame,so it is about the same.Perhaps there is an advantage on a 2 door sedan vrs. a 4 door sedan,I think a(rear) door is heavier than the metal panel a 2 door would have in place,no window crank devices,no door latches,hindges,etc.

The not difficult to fit thing, is entirely up to the tools you have available. The only easy fit is to use the 1200 UTE diff, which may involve little mods for shock mounts. The sedan mounts the shocks differently(vertical). Id probably select a Mitsubishi Scorpion diff if you had say 200+ HP and wanted diskbrake rear. But this involves shortening the axles. May as well go for a LSD Commodore diff + Disk brake rear. I reckon the 1200 UTE diff will hold up on mine, mainly due to the fact I don't go around trying to break things.
Nice easy launches, make the clutch do the work..it's easier to replace (But about the same price). The commodore diff requires shortening the housing, shortening the axles, Making leaf spring mounts and shock mounts. These can be transplanted from the original diff. I'm sticking with the Ute diff on mine unless it breaks too often. I'm also looking at going 5stud hubs, so I can get funky wheels.

Ive always loved 1200's and im going to model mine on yours ive got one question though im not sure what diff to use as im on a tight budget but dont want to compromise strength for my impatience. Can u recommend any diffs that can handle the power and arent difficult to modify to suit the ca18det and my coupe. My mates got a cheap limo diff lined up well not really cheap($1900 LOL) but i dont want to lag in the diff department as i know this is important. Ur help would be much appreciated

The 120Y swaybar doesn't fit whan you are using a CA18. The bend in the bar hits on the sump. The standard 1200 sway bar fits. If the bar was flattened it would fit fine.

120Y has those mounting points to 180B crossmember and transmission as they have been made with L-series engine, called Sunny Exellent. B110 has also made with that engine but I haven't seen how it be different to A-series 1200 as those mounting points to different crossmember lacks, that 180B/1600 crossmember sit much further front than that A-series to make room for longer L-series engine and rear mounted oilpan.

there are some diffrences between front suspnsion on a 1200 and 120y. im not sure how major but i know because i got a 120y swaybar for my car as its 2 or 3mm thicker but also when changing my struts to stanza struts i had to use 120y castor rods (thats just what i was told to do and i didnt ask questions) as they were diffrent to 1200 and fitted on the stanza strut. this i know is unclear but it makes me think there are some diffrences so maybe the same rules dont apply to both cars as far as modifying suspension and stuff.

There is a conversion kit for the 1200 i know of a guy in north sydney who makes them the whole conversion kit for a 1200/ca18det conversion and possibly a 1200/sr20 conversion for $350 his email is inj_18l@hotmail.com his name is paul im sure he'd be able to help anyone with problems regarding the 1200/ca18 engine installation, if he asks who u heard it off say mic told u

also canned the idea of IRS, itl be to much mucking around me thinks

also brakes.. il definatly want excellent brakes, saftey is of paramount concern to
me.. some fat 4wheel discs sound cool but how do 120y's go with keeping the rears as drums and just upgrading the fronts, also the ca18det will most likly be a front cut and therfore have a newr model, s13 probably, break system with it. how well, if at all, do these things go onto 120y's
