For club sprints you don't need a cage, but if you
have one installed it must be cams approved (logbooked) It might sound silly not to be allowed to run with with a non logbooked cage when its ok to run without a cage at all, but the rule is there for scruiteneers to refer to when people show up with home built cages with bars dangerously close to the drivers head etc. One scruiteneer told me he'd even seen a car with a chopped up trampoline base used as a roll cage! That said, at the end of the day its up to the club scruiteneers on the day to let you run your car or not

I just thought you where doing as you said stiffening the ride a tad since you need an approved FIA and CAMS cage. Otherwise even steel cages not within the requirements of FIA and CAMS are useless.

pre sure you can have no cage at all in general/social speed events/autocross/motorkhana etc. so i would think that an alloy cage is ok. But rallying and race events pre sure its not accepted.
Just check CAMS website?

Wasn't for wank factor was a bolt in half cage to stiffen car a little in just crap club events cause that's all I can afford to do. Figured would be better than nothing in a roll over.
I didn't know alloy were outlawed. I had fattos, old hoop just wanted the rear arms. Oh well might as well not bother I guess now.
