What they do with Weber 32/36 is unbolt the stock single-carb throttle quadrant and bolt it on the weber. Bolt it on upside down for for left-hand pull.
Maybe you can fasten it to the SU linkage somehow.

That's the PCV sorted, thanks dd! I found out that they aren't vacuum advance inlets though, they're guides for choke cables. I was wrong about the linkage position as well, but now it's time to work out a counter-lever; the linkage opens the butterflies by pushing, not pulling...

You can test the vacuum ports for vac advance once running. On the carbs I've plaed with there's no signal at idle (closed butterflys) then once you open it a bit and let the engine run fast (unloaded) you should see a vacuum signal.
PCV you may need to fit some barbs and plumb it up yourself and then tune the carb to compensate for what is essentially a vacuum leak. THis assumes you set it up like most cars and plumb it in between the carb and head. Ideally you want an even flow to each carb. No idea if the SU has provision for that, every set up I've seen just has the pipe under the carb which would mostly effect the idle circuit.

the throttles operate the butterfly and intake manifold pressure gets the pistons to rise by vacuum but you need a lite oil in the top part damper then when going you can sychronise with a tube and listen experience required or buy a vacuum guage that moves a red float over the intake to get them exactly the same

You're right dd, they are British SU's. I had a bit of a play with them last night and did a dummy fit to try and visualise what goes where.
Quote: Not needed. You can run the engine for years without plumbing the vacuum advance. It will run good without it. Just plug any unused ports on the carburetor (except for the fuel bowl vents). Referring to the photo below of the carbs from above and Bakat, going by your description, the yellow arrows point to what I presume are where the vacuum advance lines connect? They were already plugged when I got them. DD, if I decide to plumb the vacuum advance up, will I need to connect both carbs via a t-piece, or will just connecting one carb be enough? Quote: Truly you need S.U. information. It is different from Datsun twin carb linkage. Connecting the linkage to the cable is the least of my worries at the moment, I'm more concerned about exactly where it goes! You can see from the photo that I thought they went between the carbs at the point furthest from the manifold. My reasoning for thinking this is because the point closest to the manifold (where they originally were according to this photo) seems to only operate the butterflies, which I thought were choke operation, whereas the point I have put the linkage seems to operate the piston. Do I have this arse-about?? The photo of the carbs from the lh side is to show the fuel lines and third photo shows the pot for the rear carb. Referring to the 3dr photo, the red-filled arrow points to the fuel pump line and the yellow-filled arrow points to the line connecting both carbs. What the hell is supposed to connect to the 3rd point, shown by the solid yellow arrow? Finally, there doesn't seem to be anywhere on the manifold for the PCV valve, therefore nowhere to connect the PCV hose. Again, am I missing something, or do I just direct the hose downwards and forget about it?

So that is a GX manifold and Skinners Union carburetors (not Datsun carburetors).

at the bottom of the front carb, there's a vacuum port. it's for your dizzy advance.

I bought a pair of SU's and manifold from here(big ups to mattblack!) and am itching to test run them, but am not quite sure how to put the jigsaw together. I've trawled the interweb and studied every GX5, SSS and even Z engine bay, but I just can't find any images that show enough detail on how to plumb the vacuum advance or set up the linkage(s). I have the linkage between the carbs, but I'm even struggling to work out exactly where to go! (Feeling a little rare admitting this, but I'm a man; I know how to swallow... my pride!
)Ergo, this is a shout-out/plea to any members who run twin SU or Hitachi carbs to please post some hi(ish)-res and detailed photos of their carbs. Here is a link to the carbs classified ad, which has a couple of pics of how they arrived. You can view topic.
