LOL!!
Yeah thanks guys, I've dropped the idea like a bad joke, the more I thought about it and the more I researched it, the more it seemed like a really bad idea, Isn't surprising why it's so cheap

I'll keep my eye out for a cheap fixer upper A15 (yeah here's to hoping! LOL) no rush.

Thanks again for helping out :)

J15, no good thing. Do not buy J15. Leave J15. J15, No!

pretty much summed my suspicions about this donk, it looks too industrious to be anything other than a forklift motor, the head design certainly leaves alot to be desired.

$50 was about what i was gonna pay for it, was going to be 100$ all up with the 4speed.
Which is another question, would those 4spds bolt up to A series motors? The J15 looks like it has an adaptor plate that fits to box up to it, might see if i can find out what type of 4spd it is, that'll make it easier to determine if it will I reckon ;)

Hmmm boat anchor indeed. To put it bluntly, you'd be pissing in the wind ifyou were to try get high performance out of it. Sure if you've got a spare old turbo lying around it might be a bit of fun. But don't pay more than 50 bucks for it.

That's a J15. Leave it where it is, you could probably run faster than it.
They came out in 1200, 1300 and 1500 CC's. Copy of an old British Austin engine. Came out in Datsun's in early to mid 1960's. Still got a tool kit out of one I had years ago, has imperial spanners.

That's a J13 or J15 motor for sure. Have one in a forklift. Runs great on LPG, and reliable as they come. Hate to offer you a challenge, but good luck if you want that boat anchor to to anything.

just saying

ive only got photos to go off, unfortunately DD ... Ive been trying to contact the owner for more info like the engine number and such,it'd certainly make it alot easier, but I haven't been able to, so thought I'd get a head start ...

Not really an engine suited to modifications I would think? ... induction choices would be very limited with that head design i'd think?
Has anyone had much success with these engines? Im not wanting something that is going to break records, but I do want to install a cam and various other bibs n bobs ... only reason im considering this is it comes with a 4speed and the price is almost a steal.
