You have a pm demac!
Il just say if you have to deal with an engineer over your build or conversion make shore there happy with what ever fuel setup your doing. Was annoying having to cut out and fix up under my ute.

Demac- I am talking about the same engineer as you are! Seems there is quite a bit of inconsistency as to what is 'fine' and what isn't. Either way a drop tank behind the diff will be going in once signed off

I am thinking of getting efi tank made for the standard spot. R31 rank won't work in my case as I have a large muffler at the rear of which I from the pics won't come close to fitting :(!

The engineer I got (Sanjay from AutoTeam) has inspected the R31 tank behind the diff and is fine with it.
Best idea is to select your engineer and find out what they will pass.

I was going the r31 tank way and the engineer I had do first couple of inspections won't off on a tank behind diff housing! Silly And not so for different reasons both ways but that's what's on my report so far. Il be going a fuel cell and pot in tray just behind cabin!

I second what your saying Bundy351. Should be no need to run a surge tank and lift pump deal with the R31 setup (unless your building a racecar). The R31 tank comes with a built in EFI pump and it's setup to run a bigger engine than the CA so should be fine.
I know one has just been signed off by a Victorian engineer recently and this setup was standard with all Kev Rowleys CA conversions in Qld!

I am running a R31 skyline tank in my ute but I am not going to bother with a surge tank. I am just putting a quality intank pump into the existing cradle and running a supply and return line. I figure, its a ute with bugger all weight over the back axle so I will always race with a full tank of juice so it will never suck air plus the skyline tank is baffeled around the cradle to minimise any cavitation. All the datto emissions will plug into the R31 skyline tank which will appease the engineering gods.

R31 Skyline tank is a common method. Use the standard Skyline pump as a lift and run it to a surge tank in the tray or there room against the back of the cabin under the tray.

ok fellas I am looking for someone to point me in the right direction here... I am putting the ca18det in my ute. Last time I set it up I had a surge tank and lift pump and bosch 044 efi pump.
I am looking to simplify this and possibly just get a tank made to sit in the same position as the original tank or run a fuel cell in the tray. Or run the surge tank and lift pump in the tray? I am a bit lost as i need it to be legal and be able to be engineered in WA. anyone got any ideas? You can view topic.
