Hey guys, yeah it is a 1980 model so as far as I know it should be a plastic grille (which it is).

The tabs are in the same spot as the first setup in the photo although they just don't line up.

1971-1978 ute uses the sedan metal grille
1978-1989 ute used the coupe-type plastic grille
1989-up core supports are different yet again

anythings possible

what year is your ute? maybe its supposed to have the early metal grille?

Hey everyone,

So I recently got myself a 1200 Ute. It's been freshly sprayed and everything is in bits at the moment. I've been restoring the chrome trims and I've bought myself a new grille as the old one was crappy.

Problem is that the bottom grille mounts don't line up with the tabs on the body. The top ones line up fine but bottoms are all out by around 30mm or so. I'm sure I've got the right grill (plastic grille) and I even tried to put the old grille back on - same issue.

Could the panel beater have remove and welded the tabs in wrong? Or am I missing something here?
