I modified my box for a bigger tunnel. I omitted the pull vent. Just glued it up and cut a portion out to make room. I figured I could get air from my wing side vents. I still have the heater core in.
The boxes is out right now for my mods. I can shoot a photo and post in. I'll be home in two days.

Tape up the wires but don't tape up the water pipes :)
Don't block them off .... join them

the very base model 1200's did not have a heater.
I had a 1970 1200 wagon that from new had no heater fitted as standard. the dash still had the slots where the controls would normally go, there where solid grommets in the firewall where the hoses would normally go, and a blanking plate under the windscreen plenum area where the fresh air intake to the heater box is.

just tape them, but you need a heater or at least demister for rego and roadworthy.
you can hook up electric heaters to demist and having it set up on the factory heater switch is a neat trick.
