hi guys I have found a way to incorporate a bosch style coilpack into a direct fire arrangement, using a 360 degree plug lead, you could easily fashion a 0 length socket to socket plug lead if you wanted. I can copy them lazercut if anyones interested.

I had a chat to my tuner about coil up grades and he mentioned that he has run LS1 coils of a few RB powered vehicles with great success. They are cheap, realily available and pack a great punch. Mind you these vehicles were running Haltech computers.

Still have to run igniter box, I have had both setups but most ppl run put holes in coilcover to let heat out then its neat

McDat- If you find the answer out regarding 'Is that to eliminate the resister box thing?'
Please share the answer. If it is the case il sell my bosch coils and get a set of spit fires. Do you know the spitfire amps and specs??? If similar i would rather a clean bay than add in 4 external coils

Heat is about the only advantage of running them on the firewall.

I would not bother spending money on spitfires or aftermarket brand unless your spark is breaking up at high revs, seems a waste of money to me.

Im looking at the splitfire coil packs, they run whats called DIS(direct ignition system)if u don't know what it is it where the ECU fires the coil directly.

This question id like to know the answer as well.
From what little I know about this....If your running external bosch coils for instants you can run a stronger spark and as you have mentioned less radiant heat to cause the coil to drop, malfunction or fail.
The coils you get for the ca are good for so much HP and if you want to go aver that then your spark will be a limiting factor
