Ute made it safe and sound, it arrived in Darwin this evening. By all reports no damage. A mate picked it up and will take care of it for me until I arrive in a few weeks time. Good luck with the AU.

How did the trip go.... All safe and sound?
we just booked in the car to go this week and wanted to make sure that they look after it (if not that they pay for damage)

Fair enough. The AU will b worth double up there. Crazy car prices in the NT, crazy MVR inspection laws too. Good luck David.

He used up his move already and thought that he could buy a car up there, he was going to take my 1200 coupe but cooked the motor. So now after finding it hard to get anything that he wanted up there he's decided to take the old Ford - I am basically giving it to him for nothing and I don't want it back so that decision was easier (he'll be out picking up boat people for 2 out of 3 months anyway so it doesn't need to be anything more than occasional transport).

Hey mate. The train is the cheapest, the ute was $1250 but the bonus is you can load it to the hilt with whatever you want, no weight restriction on train, just has to meet size req's which the AU will as long as its not to low (min 13cm clearance). Only catch is u have a 1hr window to collect it in Darwin 4 days later. They won't store it. Trucking it to Darwin is $1600 minimum. The navy should b paying for his move anyway shouldn't they?

Am about to get a 2001 AUII falcon shipped to Darwin .... my son will be using it there while in the Navy. They quoted me just over $1400.
Is that the cheapest way to transport it?

Bit of an odd post this one but im sitting on the train bored. Dropped off the old girl this morning for what a lot of people have on their bucket list as a once in a lifetime trip.
She is on the train from Melbourne to Darwin. Feel a bit apprehensive but I have a good mate collecting her at the other end. Hoping she arrives in one piece. In the last 18 months she has gone from Canberra - Darwin - Melbourne - Darwin. I'be spent more shipping her around than what she cost to buy but I guess that's what you do when u love your car.
