Thanks alot A12grunt your pics help me out nicely showing step by step apriciate it should add it to the wiki
The main problem my a15 had the temperature pasting 1/4 from colt start in about 4 mins Problem tured out to be a faulty rad cap! A pic of the wiring of thurmo and fan. ![]() Plus heres a pic of how far the temperature reached a 1 time. ![]()

Love the air cleaner.
Instead of bolts through the rad you could mount the fan directly to the car. No rad issues then

hey darren
mine sucks air from outside the front grill and directs/pushes it towards radiator/engine side.So your fan is now spinning the right way.Funny how some people wonder where the fan is as it can't be seen behind grill.lol. if you have a good quality fan, id get rid of the mechanical fan. make sure u run a fuse for the fan too. heres some pics of my setup.the holden sealer is for the bolts holding the fan to radiator.most of the things can be found at hardware stores. also with your mechanical fan running, i wonder if the temp will be high enough to activate the fan switch.on what temp is ur switch activated? Ok
Replaced a Faulty Radiator cap today an the fan was spinning the wrong way It was pulling air towards the front of the car so i switched around the wires now its pushing towards the rad, i will have to drive the car because i had the car idling for a while and the electric fan did not even come on yet,it was getting late so next time i will see how it all goes!

Fan on front needs to push air through the radiator into engine bay.
You need to make sure not only fan is spinning the right way but the profile of yhe blare is the right way too. Get a piece of paper and turn fan on. The see from front if it tries to push air away from rad or through it. Also then test engine bay side for the same.

i see your point there i will have a check on that.Water pump is ok so since your fan is on similar position to mines what direction does yours work pulling air away from rad or pushing towards it?

hey darren,
the fan blocking the radiator cant be it as mine is in similar position. Below is a pic of the switch im using. According to the pic of ur switch i wonder if the switch is "in" enough.have a look where mine sits flush when tightened.in ur pic, there is an added black piece between switch and radiator hence question how long the threaded part in ur switch is. Just a thought

If the things are on order and the radiator is good i don't think so you will need a electric fan, I run A12A on my B310 with AC without electric fan on,Rarely on a heavy traffic electric fan comes on for few minutes thanks regards sumith

Correctly designed and installed electric fans work better than engine driven fans in engine cooling and A/C performance.
and im referring to "Proper" electric fans not cheap fans or copies.The cheap ones won't cool the car in summer. darrenwilson, i also installed an electric fan and got rid of the mechanical fan two weeks ago.Car runs very well and no overheating issues.engine bay is considerably quiet as fan only goes on when temps goes 85 and turns off when under 80. Thermo switch was installed on bottom part of radiator (like most oem thermoswitches) where the tap to release the water was. I also put on a new water pump and thermostat.Maybe check if ur water pump is in good condition. Is ur fan running a fuse?its a gud idea to run one to avoid wiring harness getting hot if ever the fan didn't work correctly. and did u get the radiator flushed while installing the thermo switch? and as stated by unfamilia, confirm air is going in right direction.my fan can run both ways but what dictates the direction of airflow is how you do the wiring. I also went thru ur build.awesome work.i noticed u used zip ties.id recommend "padding" the fan so when it moves it doesn't damage the radiator fins.i also used bolts but again they have "padded" washers.This also let me install the fan and radiator as one unit even though i had to modify the front abit.il post some pics wen i get on my comp at home. Nothing to do with cooling, but also try to add a couple neutral wires from the negative terminal of battery to different engine parts.i.e one to the alternator bolt. and if you can, get the neutral wire ones from german made cars as opposed to jap cars.It improves how the engine performs.
