I am still working on finding parts. Talked to a few locals about the Datsun 1200. In Fiji it is a highly desirable car and many 1200 owners are reluctant to sell. Probably due to their reliable and excellent gas mileage since gasoline in Fiji is nearly 12 USD / gallon.

I talked with one 1200 owner while there and he was looking for a carburetor. Here are some pictures I took while there. All up I probably saw about 6 x 1200 utes, 1 x 510 sedan, 1 x 180b, 2 x 120ys and 1 x 1200 sedan. Just driving around a few days during my stay. I saw many many more just sitting in people's lawns rotting away.

Will check and report back. We are going to Suva today. Hopefully I can find the place.

Congrats jeff. But a quick trip to a nissan dealer could end in divorce unless thats your intention.

Does anyone know where to find a Datsun or Nissan dealer in Fiji. We are here on honeymoon, keen to stop by and see what sort of parts they have available here?

last night my 120y quit on me in the middle of the city ,,, she just died,, when i checked, i saw that the fuel was empty and the battery was flat,, its like wen i pressed the accelerator pedal den the lights were bright, as soon as i let go, dim again,, cud dis be a problem with the alternator ??
No, not directly a problem with the alternator. Those symptoms are caused by a flat battery, or by a wiring problem, most often dirty connection (slightly corroded battery cables).

When this type of problem occurs, twist the battery cables. It the electrics start working, then it is a cable cleaning problem. See Battery Maintenance for more details.

If the battery was truly flat, the cause of it going flat might be the alternator or regulator or even just the ALT fuse. Test to find out which component needs to be replaced. See http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawi ... Voltage_Regulator#Testing
