It depends on how the tachometer is wired. Some Datsuns tachometers use induction wiring and some use voltage wiring.
See http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawi ... ring#Late_1200_Tachometer (Late 1200 means 1979 and up) To make your A15 more powerful, fit an A14 camshaft and hold your foot down to 6000 RPM on each shift.

Hey guys
I have a 1979 Datsun 1200 ute, it is all standard and has the clock in it, i pulled out the clock and i was given a tacho from a later model datsun I was wondering what wiring/connectors/senders i would need and how to wire it in? Also what are some ways to make my engine (A15) more powerfuller Cheers You can view topic.
