Thanks for all the replies guys. I still get amazed how generous everyone is on here.
I'm borrowing a little blow touch from my father today to get it a crack (pun intended). the flare nut spanner would of been great but i was able to get a ring spanner onto it because the line was snaped. hopefully the combo of heat and multi grips will do the trick. Clyons8, thank you thank you for the offer! i will keep you posted!

Hey John, perhaps a bit of heat might help too, especially if you can't get a decent grip on it?
Otherwise I have a spare splitter here that I can offer to you? Provided you trade me the one with jammed thread and buy me a beer! ; )

John if you haven't rounded the nut off with the vice grips...I have a flare nut spanner you could borrow. They are the best things to use on these nuts to avoid damage. But once damaged go the BIG vice grips for some leverage because you need to crack them open usually.

If you've had vice grips on it, we can assume it is now buggered beyond any hope for a flare/pipe spanner.
BIG multigrips are your friend. They never fail! They have to be huge though.

You just have to 'break' the factory lock tight, so either try what cable_tie suggests, or try a little bit of heat to the nut. Also try a new flare wrench & try & shock the nut, rather than torquing it. Sometimes a tap with a small soft mallet helps too.

Do it up 1/8 of a turn and then undo it.
Just try it.

Hey guys,
i need to replace one of my hard brake lines. From the splitter to the right hand wheel. the only issue is that the little bugger of a nut wont budge! Does anyone have any tips?? I've taken the usual avenues with WD-40 then vice grips. no luck! I really dont want to break anything else like the splitter in the process of getting this off! many thanks J You can view topic.
