Greeting's All,
Well guy's I think I have fixed my problem. I took the drums of my spare '70 1200 sedan & put them on my ute. I know what is meant about the ajusting "cams" now. I made sure that they where "Off" as close as possible to the centre. I also found the second ajuster on each side !! For some reason I only ajusted the top one. Put back together and took for drive , had next to no brake's at all with very soft pedel. I even I knew that they needed to be bleed. Did this and now "I HAVE BRAKES AGAIN " WOO HOO !!!! THANK GOD FOR THAT !! So I guess that the other drums need to be machaind or was it just because I didnt ajust the bottom cam ?? Or maybe a mix. But now when I stand on the brake pedel it pulls up straight ! ! Regards & Thanks Andrew S amshaw

Oh christ your jokeing arnt ya two ajusted pionts on the front ???
This is starting to give the the ####s etc. I will go back to the workshop manual and try and nut this out. But to be honest I think it too much for my little brain to handle after all Im just a Firefighter. I think it would be easer to just get new struts for it and be done it with all this stuffing around !! Regards & Thanks Andrew

hey amshaw have you adjusted the shoes even as the front shoes have two adjusters and when you say you have adjusted them till they are just rubbing then you could have adjusted them offcenter and when they cool down overnight the shoes on one side pull back more than the other then the first pump in the morning works quicker on one side than the other
hope this helps its worth a try

ok,
So what your saying is that even though I have ajusted them up , if the nut thing on the lining may not be set propely ?? How do I make sure it it is seated right. Do I take the rim and drum off & have a look at the nut and lining bracket thingie ?? I think I had better have a look in my workshop manual etc. Regards Andrew

Howdy,
Haven't worked on ute front drums, but I have had problems setting up 1200 rears. where you have 5 side tapered adjuster, you have to make sure that when it's finally right that it has stopped on the flats. otherwise it moves and starts to grab. Just my 2 cents.

Hi & Thanks,
But As I said in my first post I ajusted them up when got the ute. One side was on a little more than the other so I evend them up by starting from scatch ie screw it untill they locked then back them of untill just rubbing. After swaping drums and looking for oil leaks etc I ajusted them up again just to make sure. When I went to work this morning they where fine again so I will just keep an eye on them I guess. drum brakes have to be adjusted manually, and for cars with drums on the front, can make them pull to one side if not adjusted evenly. Adjust them both, and see how you go...

Greeting's,
Thanks for hints. I took the ute for a drive this morning and it went well. I thought great Ive fixed it, but after abnout 20 min of driving around town going some jobs etc it started to pull the the left. So Im guessing it must be the drum as at the start it was pulling to the right and yesterday I swaped them over now it pulls to the left. Can I get away with just reajusting the right hand side so it grabs a bit more or earlier than the left side ?? Or do I need to get a new drum or get them machined ?? At the end of the day I would rather it pull to the left than the right. Regards & Thanks Andrew

Hey Andrew not a good idea to blow out drum linings as all that suspended dust has an unhealthy amount of asbestos in it. Hope the brakes track true now.
