1st choice.. Def 10A Rotary, very under estimated !! But dont ride off the A14 or A15, more than enough to scoot the 1000 along

Sweet that fiat looks cool! I'd love to see more of any thou's with flares, only seen the ava pic from clyons8 and an old red 1000 ute that never actually had them built on properly... I reckon it would work but I'm not sure about with a wagon 1thou or whether at certain angles it would look like poo!? Yea I'm all in for the torque of the a15, as cool as a a10 turbo sounds, revving and stuff, I could see my self wanting more power, and like Dave said, more low end power. Still cool though and would love to see someone do it!

The 1000 is like a baby sized 510 styling is spot on for a Japanese classic and looks better than mk2 escorts or ae86 roku hachi which now match many Z cars for price yet the appeal of the 1000 is the raw power to weight. If it was released with an 160hp A13 or 170hp A16 it would have been a headache for euro sports cars. Also look at fiat 128 Abarth, Gordini R12 & boxy mk2 v8 Toranas, they fetch equally or more than a Z.
Matt, borrowing some RS rally flares wouldnt look bad either, I saw one fiat 128 with the steel rally escort flares and it looked insane. http://www.fiat128.de/Restauration/Fi ... ally_Gr__2/Fertig.06..jpg http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drift ... toshop-my-pic-please.html http://www.palmside.co.nz/product_cid_10890.html A series has so many options and who cares if the 1000 was never fitted with an A16 at least we can have that now. Supercharged A10 would be better than turbo for at least there would be some torque to start with rather than nothing at all down low. big bore A15 either boosted OHV or high comp NA twin cam would be ample oomph.

Turbo A10 might be worth considering. I have been in a turbo A12 and it was pretty damn quick (very quick).

Hey Clyons8 (Chris?) Where did you get your flares and steel style rims from in your ava piccy? Off topic but yea ??? Custom? Any other options anyone can think of just for curiousity? Something different?

If the 1000 came out with an A13 from factory SSS or GX version we wouldnt be able to afford them as easily as we can these days. They would be sought after like crazy due to their giant killing history. With an A15 they would be priced as much as a Z. I don't think so. The 1000 styling is what doesn't entertain people? If Datsun raced the TOMEI 1000 a few more years longer along with the TS cup 1200's and the Rollas we may have seen more following. I have a full conversion alloy engine with RWD 5 speed available for sale but it will not comply with Aus standards (restrictions). Also have a turbo A10 if you're keen on that!!! Haha ![]()

Due to the time of year and since he relies on other businesses getting the work done its slower than he hoped but he is working away as time permits.
The A15 block is a strong as the B16 block, they both have no skirts and the only difference in the cranks is the A15 is not fully counterweight like the B6 is but the A15 metallurgy is second to none for production engines of the Japanese variety and A15 cranks have been taken to 10,000+ rpm in race engines. A15 rods are also proven in race conditions when prepped. If worried then H beam CA18de rods can be made to fit by just shaving a tad off the sides on the BE. With 78mm bores you can use stock Mazda B6 pistons off the shelve and match the B6 capacity and if e16 cranks where more available then even more capacity can be had. Never liked the idea of an A15 crank into the A12 but its been done many times supposedly and will suit older block A12 for sleeper purposes and luckily just found out recently there is a 78mm bike piston that has 18.9mm compression height and will allow machined down counterweights for an A15 crank to fit into an A12 along with decent rod stroke ratio of 1.58 using 129mm rods, problem is finding the 120-130mm rods that would suit an A15 crank. This would also allow an E16 88mm stroke crank to have 1.7 rod stroke ratio when fitted to an A15 block.

Tempting Dave! Let me know immediately when he gets the parts worked out. Would be an epic build in my opinion! Btw leaving a message on dat1000 in a moment.
