OK there are two styles of covers that have essentially a matched pulley:
One cover has a single mark and multiple marks/notches on the pulley in 5 degree increments. The other cover has the 5 degree increments on the cover and a single mark/notch on the pulley. I've installed (because I wasn't paying attention) the cover and pulley with multiple marks; I ended up marking the TDC notch on the pulley with a dab of red paint. The plus side of this is I can not check the timing advance statically (matchbox dizzy) by rotating the shaft to full advance and lining up the 15 degree BTDC marks on the pulley and cover. I do double check with a light of course. Tom

Dee, here's on for you: the other timing cover is early A10 which only fits the single-roller chain. The A10 double-roller cover was used for first couple years of A12, then the new style cover was used circa 1972-2010.
Hmm that gives me an idea for shaving weight off an A12 ...

The block makes no difference
The pre 1972 timing cover has one timing mark. Post 1972 has multiple marks. Doesnt matter if its A12 or A14. You can view topic.
