Benny,DD:
Thanks for the info! Sounds like the reduction gear starter is longer than the OEM A12 starter? How deep of a notch in the engine mount is required? (any issues with structural integrity of the engine mount?) Bolt pattern and flywheel engagement gear are the same? Again, thanks!

I did what DD suggested to fit mine into my 1200. Notch the engine mount to provide the clearance

Sure it'll fit the A12 engine. But it won't fit in the 1200 car. It doesn't even fit 1974-1976 B210 Maybe if you notch the engine mounts?

Does the Datsun 1200 Galaxy of Stars have any updated input on fitting a later model B210 / B310 gear reduction starter motor to an A12 engine?
The tech wiki sort of leaves us hanging whether it is doable or not. I feel that my A12 racing engine with nearly 13:1 compression will need a bit more cranking "oomph" when I go to light it up, both cold & hot. Thanks! You can view topic.
