I made it to Pick a Part out neat Travis AFB (since I was working out that way today), with the tools I bought from Harbor Freight in Fairfield. No Datsuns but found the EDIS bits I wanted.

Pick a Part's pretty much the same as the aussie U-Pull-It. Harbor Frieght on the other hand was like a giant Chinese tool shop but less cramped. Lots of tools that aren't so common at home. Interesting.

Thanks for the help guys!

Agree Harbor Freight do have some junk ... but in the end you generally get what you pay for and if I will only get limited use or if the tool is real cheap I love a 'bargain' .... just don't buy stuff with a lot of moving parts or that you would want to return

East Coast is pretty slim when it comes to Datsuns. However there is alot of Z car parts and Z cars around. I've never seen any other Datsuns on the East Coast. Home depot and Lowes are the places to go on the East Coast for tools. Stay away from Walmart. ACE hardware also good but more pricey. Pennsylvania will have cheaper priced than both NJ or NY

Thank for the hot tips! Anyone know the East coast hot spots? I'm only in CA for another day. I might the afternoon tomorrow though.

California's pretty awesome. I like it here from the little bit I've seen.

Harbor Freight has absolute garbage.
I still shop there every once in a while and talk sh1t about myself while I'm there, but it's still fun to visit.
HF is good for cheap, use-once-at-home type of tools. For example, I have a few 1/4" die grinders. They are loud and not very powerful but, at $10, they are good for home use and disposable. The $80 portable band saw is surprisingly decent for home use as well.
There's one in Hayward and Newark across the bay.
Harbor Freight
39155 Cedar Blvd

True Value Hardware and ACE Hardware are small neighborhood hardware store chains that have a lot of stuff and they are all over the City.

You should also go to
http://www.grainger.com/
Grainger Industrial Supply
750 Brannan St
San Francisco, CA 94103

Pick-N-Pull as suggested earlier is good. I would visit the one in Newark because the surrounding neigborhoods are not that sketch.

Pick-N-Pull
7400 Mowry Ave
Newark, CA 94560

It's an hour away, but you could go to Harbor Freight in Newark, CA then go to Pick-N-Pull down the street.
If you google maps these locations you'll see that it would be pretty simple.

Welcome to California,
Angelo
