Cost 270 aus for the cam regrind. 88 aus for follower refacing, 110 for springs.
As for what power it will make, i'm not sure... this is my first engine tuning project.....hoping you guys might be able to give me a few pointers... For the price of parts etc it would make more sense for me to buy a 2nd hand newer type engine, but i like these little engines and it looks right in my engine bay..

i have a similar project, A16, slightly worked head, extractors and WEBER 32/36 or maybe EFI
I'm looking for something not too hairy and was advised by Camtech cams to go with their 621B. I received it just today.. here is the spec label which came with it. They resurfaced my followers and supplied a new set of double springs also.

I have a cam from Arthur Johnson Engineering here in Sydney, actually I have 2 of their cams. One of them is in an A15, L16 valves & porting on a small combustion chamber head, electronic dizzy, 32 dgv weber & 4-1 extractors. Doesn't really start working until 3000, though that could be a bad tune on the weber, it idles rough & gargles petrol. I have another cam that I'm going to put into another A15 which i'll fit to the car with the same basic accessories, but not the big valve head. It's been used before & pulls strongly from just off idle, goes to about 6500 & is an all around good road cam, even with just the stock carby. They are supposedly almost identical cams. I don't know what makes one a pig to use, & you need twin webers to smooth the idle out, but it's something. On the other hand you could get the factory 70 degree cam from Stuart Wilkins , which will do the same as the second cam.
Also, talk to Ernie (BigE) about what he'd recommend. Mid range torque is just as important to a speedway engine as is top end, cause you can't change down a gear to get the revs up, the power has to be there when you roll on the throttle. He might have something that'll suit you perfectly.

I do not have make and model for you but.........
With a .420 lift and 278 advertised duration the car has solid mid range and pulls from the bottom decent. With a .460 lift and 286 duration, the car is a dog off the bottom and nothing really happens below 4500 RPM's The two cams are not that far apart spec wise but on road performance is a huge difference. I used a stewart wilkins street/race cam on a a14 running higher compression pistons (not too much), stock 1400 head with a lightly ported inlet manifold (carby end), 32/36 weber and I was extremely impressed with how streetable and but revvy it was. easily went to 7500+ rpm which I would have thought was a good range for a a16. I know your motors a bit more than what I had but I was impressed with the power upgrade, drivability and lumpy sound. Rev range was from about 3500 to just over 7500rpm I think. They can give u specs aswel

Interested to hear what profile and make members would recommend? Especially those who have actually run a profile that they particularly like and are happy to vouch for.
I have built an A16 with flat tops, hoping to run a standard but ported H89 and twin 40mm carbs. Looking for torque and solid mid range. You can view topic.
