#12 Re: Datsun 1600 front end on a 1200? Possible?

Only that much? Great price. I wonder what the shipping, install, paint, duty and fitment would cost?

I don't know what you mean by lines but yeah the front end has alot more feature and the raised brow of the lights gives it the stern 'eyes', the feature of the bonnet and panels is also attractive.

I'm more of a fan of 'tough engines first' then aggressive first impressions afterwards. I'm even more of a fan of powerful & subtle.

I think this kit would be alot better than a 1200/1600 mashup. I don't like either of them that much to want to try merge them into one. I like the 1600 but would probably buy one rather than make one.

I've been trying to contact 09racing of recent. No response yet. Doubt I will get a message from him on here. Hasn't logged in in over a year haha.
But don't you agree the lines on that kit are more aggressive and striking
I think the kits go for about 3.5k in Japan plus postage...

Got a spare 10k?

The gent that builds those kits is a member on here. He'd be the man to ask....

I was thinking of just buying a hakotora front end from Japan. What do you think?

Here are some varying front ends to take a look at.

There is a 1600 ute in QLD somewhere. Looks like a poo but still solid effort. Perhaps take a look at that a see if that is really what you want.

Haha thanks for the club rego info. I figured this beast will be impossible to get on the road in queensland anyway. Probably won't even try.

Tube frame front chassis. That won't be allowable on club permit unless Vass signed off unless you have it done within the next few weeks. ALL CARS will need full Rwc to get on the scheme soon and ALL MODS outside vsi 8 will need Vass certificate for new m plates.

Do the guards and front but keep a 1200 Bonnet as will fit better

Thanks for the feed back.
For starters I have a 1200 ute. Completely shaved. No door handles, antenna, gutters, no tailgate, no lip around the tray, no wind screen wipers, no drain grills. Completely seamless. I just think the 1200 front is a little round and happy looking.
What I like is the aggressiveness of the 2000gt front or the 72 510 bluebird gt front end. They have twin lights and they just look mean.
My ute will only be club regod and will pretty much only appear in shows so I want it to stand out like the jersey shore crew in sweeden haha.
Just have people scratching their heads

Sounds like a lot of effort to make it look like another car? Do you have a sedan or a ute?

I think people have done the four light thing but it leaves a fairly small space for the grill and it ends up looking like it has its eyes too close together.

Perhaps you need to identify exactly what it is you like about the 1600 features and work those styles or features into your car rather than trying to do a straight swap of parts and panels. You will hav difficulty aligning the style lines and fitting the bonnets, easier to say than do I think.

What is it about the 1200 front that looks tame? There are the GL/GX option grilles and bonnets that definitely give more feature. Boxy air dams also help to bulk it up a bit..... Depends what you like really.
