Has anyone had much experience with A15 engine parts from SW motorsport? They seem reasonably priced on their website

If you need all those parts, the kit is OK. Price seems high, about $700 AUD with shipping.

Are they the correct dish pistons? You can buy four custom pistons about $400 in Australia. Flat tops even. Custom order from JP Pistons. Maybe prices have gone up.

I'm in a similar state with my a15 I'll need pistons, rings, bearings etc. Would that forklift kit suit?

That's cheap for here in Australia. Remember we pay Australia tax for everything

We use Repco rings here, they seem to be good quality. A normal rebuild kit has rings, main & rod bearings and gaskets. To that I would add new valve guides. And new parts for whatever is damaged - yes, bad bores call for new pistons.

If you are going to bore the block, why fit normal OS pistons which don't increase HP? Go with large pistons and gain HP. For an A15 go with 78.5 pistons.

I have taken the head off and noted very badly eroded water jackets and the cylinders have some deep grooves/scores in them (assume the water from the corroded head has been sitting in the bores) so I have a feeling os rings wont be enough once the bores are machined. I assume the big/small end bearings will also be victims of the swarf from the cylinders, but I haven't taken the crank out yet to have a look. Somehow I don't expect it to be a simple as replacing valve guides! I sent Ernie a PM a few weeks ago to inquire whether he is still supplying bits and pieces, but I'll try again. (unless there are other local alternatives for good quality pistons rings and bearings)

$400-$500 is a terrible price. A-series rebuilds generally don't need new pistons or valves. But they do need new valve guides, which are better than knurling (trying to restore) the old valve guides.

Often the existing oil pump and timing chain are within Nissan specs. So check them before buying new items.

Nissan recommends not replacing the cam bearings on a standard rebuild.

That kit is for forklift A15s which have been hammered every day for years. It would be better described as a remanufacture kit.
