So im tossing up between an a12 or an a14 but leaning towards the a14 not worrying about getting the engine engineered but as for brakes thats my next mod thanks for all the advice guys cheers

Sneaky stroker no engineering required yet if youre going
going to engineer it, A15 & turbo would be your best bet.
Never heard of a GX head using boost should be good.

I think in NSW you can only register an A14 in a 1200 ute, due to their capacity to car weight formulas, though it appears some people can get sr20 turbos regstered. You could either get an A14 for the same capacity as the A12 with A14 crank & A15 pistons, or put A15 rank & pistons in an A14 block for 1488cc . My opinion is just put in an A14 with your GX head. I'd talk to an engineer about what he'll allow before buying anything. He might be quite happy to register with an A15. Go for the one thats easiest, is my advice. In any case, dont forget the brakes. A simple swap to late 120Y struts with the matching master cylinder will give you disks if you have drums on it & any number of conversions exist for bigger brakes from there. I've used the 120Y PBR struts in a 1200 wagon with an A14 & they never let me down.

A true GX head (with the extra oiling hole) will work with any A-series block. Take your pick. The most power will come from the largest engine.

A14 crank into your A12 block,
A15 pistons milled 1mm at the tops
and A12 rods bushed to suit them
(1400cc & no engineering required)

You may want to check out these Guys Precision just remember that on the 1200 page there is an arrow at the bottom to flick through all six pages just on the B110 early 1200 stuff.

Oh they also list every other model you are likely to come across and have prices on their site, Your Local spares guys or even mechanic could also source bits through them,Decent range and they give dimensions for some parts on the site and even torque settings etc, Though I would always confirm that sort of stuff just in case.
the link is page 6 so just go back to look at the rest or go to the Home page these guys do all sorts of goodies as well as spares for engines
