Thanks all. Yeah im thinking of cutting back on my motor a bit. Dont really need to spend big $ to get what i want. Might also have a crack at spraying myself as i am just gonna go 2pac green or white.

My race coupe owes me a shade over 9K but keep in mind this includes all the parts I have sold. Before I put in the A15 I had just under 6K in it.
One of the ways I kept the price down was by only buying parts that I got a smoking deal on. Of course I threw that out the window with the A15. If I had to do it over again I would spent money on a really trick cylinder head as the power output would have been near the same and I would have saved time, money and a bit of grief not having to swap then H145 and H190.

Thanks Dave. Yeah my pricing is all based on full retail and labour. Im gonna have a crack at a few things myself first thouh which could save me a bit. Still tossing around ideas for engine combos too though so if i end up staying a12 might just build it myself and if i blow it up or am not happy with it pay the extra $ to get a14/15 built for me. We shall see.

this is a REAL QUICK summary ...in the Ute rebuild ... probably 20 to 30% out ( it comes to around 9.5k but with rebuilding the CA motor and a few gearboxes and heaps of running around sourcing stuff it's probably more like 15k)

Hi all,

Just wanting to know what sort of $$$ people have spent, are spending or will be spending on their 1200 builds.

Just finished budgeting mine out and i figured about 20k which works out to be saving about 500 a month for just over 3 years. Gonna prep body myself, supply paint, pay for the spray, have diff and struts rebuilt, new suspension bits, new rims and tyres, rebuild a14/15 with headwork, cam and twin webbers, extractors and exhaust, all new rubbers, glass, dash and interior and all the bits and peices replaced like mouldings, lights etc.

Does this sound reasonable? What has everyone else found in terms of eventual costs? Any traps to look out for or tips to save $?
