Test it!

1. pull the bottom line off the stock fuel filter, then pull it down ( without bending the steel line). Fuel should run out.

* if no fuel comes out, find out why. Is the tank empty? Can you blow air back into the tank with your mouth?

2. If fuel comes out, remove the stock filter. Can you blow (low pressure) air through the filter? If not, replace the filter.

Start with that, then proceed to the Fuel Pump test.

thanks for the help, managed to swamp the fuel pumps over but still nothing, i poured fuel into the carby and it started up spluttering and only stays on for a few seconds then shuts off then you can hear the battery start to crank slower and slower each time you turn the key. the clear see through fuel filter i have between the hoses is still not filling up with fuel only a small amount..

Any ideas on what it could be? carby finally died? blockage in the fuel line? (if so, how to remove)

cheers guys

nah it will prime itself, just put it in and the car will take a while to start, if you put petrol in the carby directly (tip it in the top) the engine firing up will help pull petrol and save your battery/starter motor from doing too much work.

Sydney City Nissan. Ask for a 1985 Nissan 1200 fuel pump.

Any 1974-up A12/A14/A15 fuel pump will work. For example http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/GOSS-FUEL-PU ... 00-120Y-NEW-/150639055774
