It is ambient temperature Damn! 5 years later you found a bug, the bad news is that I lost the source code in a hard disk crash so it would be hard to fix.

That's about 300-370 lb-ft. Which sounds about right for a production 250hp 5.7 liter engine. If the rallycar has an engine half this size, it's probably un-naturally aspirated ...

1200rallycar 70 degrees Celcius isn't that hot for an engine!
You will find most car with automatic electric fans they come on around 65 - 85 degrees Celcius!

The actual operating temp for an A series is 82 degrees celsius or 179 degrees fahrenheit. Remember, 100 degrees celsius is boiling, so 82 degrees is just hot.

youve put the info for your car as standard as the initial values, but the temprature is 70 degress celcius, thats damn hot, is it supposed to be in faranheight (or however you spell that word)?

Thanks, I allways liked phisics and I was learning how to work with java so I added a bit of datto and that came out, it's online since 1997 but it was hided deep in my first home page.

i think your right, as with many things the application of the motor is going to determine what we want to acheive with its performance, and like you said huge torque is great for drag and also towing, one thing that may confuse you though is that rallycars have torque figures around 400-500Nm and although this seems to disagree with the formulas a Hp figure of 250 or so, though im not sure what revs it figure is at and this probably holds the answer

might have to reasrch that one!

ahhh my 2 cents.
Lets take a look at a couple of the bad things torque does, BENDING & SNAPPING, power will do this too, but is less likely as power delivery is more progressive.
Its all well and good to have 600 nm of torque at 2500rpm, but did anyone consider what drivetrain sacrifiices have to be made, let alone what it does to the chassis of our little dattos. Take gearboxes for example, full of numerous breakables. Any significantly abrupt change in the turning moment (torque) can cause breakeage in the driveline anywhere. So to remedy this u buy stonger heavier parts with more angular momentum, giving less acceleratory response than would be achievable with power. To put the "power" (torque) down u have to get wider tyres which dont handle in the wet and before u know it your car becomes a train, only capable of running the quarter mile. Cars were built with steering wheels, made to go around corners. Torque and power are equally important, but what is more important is the delivery of this power. F1 cars for example, have an relatively short range of useful power compared to their total RPM range, however this delivery is smooth and allows easier throttle control, and due to the physical size of the engine and its lateral weight distribution the car still remains competitive.
Power suits its application, remember, first u get the money, then u get the power, then u get the women.
