They did say it was a Bosch Style. Would be gold if my car is already wired for it! The old alternator was a 50amp.

Both look like the same series of alternator, both Bosch? Looks like both are internally regulated. The 89A version will have heavier, better insulated field windings
Bosch have D+ terminal (Bosch of Australia internal-regulated Alternator)

Good price for a 90A (89A) alternator.
Another solution is the Datsun 60A, just take a different size belt but bolts up to any 1974-up A-engine.

Found a solution guys.
New alternator for the Ute. This unit charges up to 89 amps. Has a German made 'HUCO' internal Reg. Installs in exact same place as original unit and uses same belt. Only difference between the original unit and this unit is that this one has 12mm holes where as the standard one has 10mm. Don't think this is going to me much of an issue. The supplier assured me that it will not move. $220 express post delivered. If anyone is interested, I got it from Starter Motors Alternators Australia in SA. They are on eBay. 2 year, 40,000 km warranty as well. Starter Motors Alternators Australia Don't bother emailing, the bloke is not very tech savy with computers. Best to give them a call. Very helpful and very knowledgeable. ![]()

I was looking at that before i did the bosch conversion, looks decent cant coment on fitment. I dont remember seeing that metal bush at the bottom bracket of mine, could be wrong though
Maybe ask for measurements I wouldnt get to hung up on amps unless your running huge foglights and stuff My other 120y has a stock 35amp lucas alt and is perfectly fine even with a amp and sub

This mob reckons this will bolt straight in with no mods and charges up to 72 amps. Internally regulated too.

Yes the Ford alternator has been used by several club members. See our club article Alternator Upgrades, section "More Swaps". With a new fan belt and some new wiring your in business.

Bosch alternators from xf falcons are very easy to adapt
all you have to do is cut the bottom mount allitle shorter and a small spacer on the top adjuster bracket on the head Works great in my 120y the lights are constant brightness before they used to dim at idle know there alot brighter and dont dim with low rpms You can view topic.
