Bruce , yes as a matter of fact the car was raced at SF Region. The friend I sold it to , sold to a doc up in Sonoma. It was car # 95 and ran HP. In April I was asked if I might like to run it at a local autocross instead I ran it at LV regions Dbl Regional - Even though I turned lap tines 30 secinds slower than in the D-sports Racer I had a blast with the car.
I dove the car at LV region races from 91-98. In 94 the car got it's 15 minute of fame with a picture in Road & Track. I'm also putting the road gear back on the car as California Rally Series is going to run some Tarmac Rallysprints . (this is where the Rallytwit nick name comes from)
I am constantly suprised at how many racers like these small bar cars.

Tom,
Was your car raced in the SF Region a couple of years ago? Check out the following website, the 1200 is legal to run in the 2.5 TransAm vintage events. http://www.bsedan.com/index.html
Hope this helps,
Bruce

Mount Shasta, in California, is the biggest Datsun meet I know of. They do it every summer. Try looking up the Norcal UFO club for details.
I too have an old 1200 GT5 car. It competed mostly in the Oregon SCCA region. Sovren, the local Vintage club which I know of doesn't allow it yet as a vintage class car. I will be preserving it for the day that it does though. It still has all steel panels, and non tube structure.

I know most of the GT5 racers , as I used to run the the 1200 in GT5 with SCCA. Rob Walker out of San Diego ran H-production , I just haven't seen any 1200's at vintage events.

Tom

PS are there any kind of Datsun meets on the west coast?

Check the SCCA times, there is info on the name and car each racer has. I've seen some 1200 and B210's in competition, but do not know the names of the parties. Canada has also some racing 1200 and B210's

OK I'm new to the forum - I recently bought my 1200 race car back (after four wallet sucking years of a sports racer) Well the car is now legal for US Vintage races , I have been racing for the last 12 years with SCCA but I'm going to start running with VARA. So how many people in the US are Vintage racing 1200's in the states?
Also I'm curious about what state of tune yer motor is in , I run a A12 GX with bigger valves - standard gx cam etc.
