The pleasure will come when you find out that it does not contain everything you need to know.

What speedo are you using?
I have a CA18DE conversion in my ute that runs the Silvia cluster (and most of the silvia loom) pin 53 should be yellow/green and runs to pin 7 on the silvia white plug(M47) at the side on the gauges. this is the signal wire - the power will fluctuate depending upon the speed you are going (an oscilloscope would show the wavelengths for different speeds) I hooked into this wire for my cruise control ![]()

Thanks for the info.
It does have a electronic speedo, so would be needed. But, the speed sensor would go to the ECU, then output to speedo, correct?

The speed sensor is not needed for the CA18DET. You can remove it and fit a cable drive from a bluebird or other 71B/71C vehicle. The speed sensor is there 1) for the speed limiter, and 2) on 'overrun' it will fuel-cut for emissions control.
Or, if you have already fitted an electric speedometer to the 1200, then it will be needed ...

Hello,
Wondering if anyone could assist me. I have a Datsun1200 with CA18DET conversion. The speedo stopped working, but the tacho and other instruments just fine. From the ECU i am getting 12v on pin 53 which i believe to be the speed sense to the speedo cluster. Im not sure how to troubleshoot it. If anyone has any pointers or has encountered similar issue would be great. Standard CA18 5 speed manual. Thanks Rory. You can view topic.
