You can, the box or hat or plenum is just a vessel to carry the pressurised charge.

Maybe a silly question... but if one was to build a simple J pipe turbo setup on a A12...
I see they use a box on top of usually a down draught carby...why can't a box be put on the end of a side draught Dellorto/weber for the same affect ??
