Yeah spot on, I am still very surprised with the power, impressed and surprised actually. I also have a round port A14 with 32 Dellorto's and the get-up is similar. Happy to swap out a H89 for a H99 any day now.

Good to hear you still have the wagon, a cool rig that one. I'm working on some other projects at the moment which may take the EFI setup, ironically all the other projects are 2 doors as well so I must say the 2-dr datsuns are very appealing.

Sometimes a quick little street combo is more fun if you're not stretching its legs too often anyway 👌

Nice, keep the bits I reckon they'd go great on a track car. Yep I still have the wags, not sure I'll ever get rid of it. I'll give it a birthday one day and tart it right up. Very keen on a12 turbo but renoing my house and building a shed will keep me busy for a while. I miss my old 2 dr sedan too. They're the best shape of the 1000s for sure!!

Generally speaking:
* round port makes more HP under 4,000 (under 3500 for A15)
* oval port makes more HP over 4,000 RPM
* H10 (small valves) makes less power than H99 (large valves)

I think a H89 with ITB's would definitely out perform round-port carb overall but I am definite that the off the mark power is better with the round port head. I have the H99 round port. Basically a dry, round port H89.

Leigh I have the ITB's and exhaust here with me still. I have another A15 on the bench which will use the ITB's I and trying some different things and in the mean time and enjoying the carbs. Have you still got that wagon?!

Looks great Chris, I still want another 2 Door sedan one day...

Where did the quads and extractors end up?

I am still tidying up the interior and have since switched back to carburettors (I prefer carbs). I run a modified A15 with round port head, yes, round port. Never have I had an A-series with such awesome off the mark acceleration, truly impressed and like it (almost?) more than the EFI setup which performed better through mid range and upper revs (oval port head).

I think the round port has a lot more to offer for street engines.

Interesting you say that, I recently just found a H10 head in my parts bin.

I was planning on running a H89 head with ITBs on an A15 which I'm planning on building in the future. Would you say the carbed H10 would be the way you'd go seeing as it sounds like you had the same choice?

The 1000 looks great by the way!

Such a cool little thou!!!

Thanks man! I rarely drive it. It has had a pretty good paint job too all done at home/work. Roads are #OOPS# here so it doesn't see much of the street unfortunately.
