Are you planning on N/A? That would fly even before mechanical tuning.
Back to the actual topic though. SSSUte, does the mechanic need to have additional licensing on top of their standard roadworthy abilities? Or can your average joe do the extra testing?

If there was a limit, sure... but where I live there is no limit, so the 2.5 makes more sense it has more HP and weighs less than the SR

I get asked this question on a daily basis.
It can be done in any state, it just finding the engineer that knows what they are doing. All states follow the same ADR rules, so state to state makes no difference. If you just roll up to the Motor reg. department and ask they will say NO, that because they are going by the documents from the guidelines to modifying a Vehicle. These are a Guideline not the rule book. If you engineer can prove with evidence that you car out performs all the required ADR's they can not so no. We have been doing this for years in Adelaide with a few different very good engineers. Its not cheap, so dont think you can get it done for $500 or $1000, they normally charge $2500 upwards, depending on what you are doing. My engineer has said to me, that using a lot of my products and my fabrication, we can get a twin turbo LS regoed. And before you say it (my states rego department is the hardest to deal with) not true. It finding the engineer is the hard thing.

there is ways i believe
the rule only dictates if you need to do additional testing such as torsional testing etc to get the cert so possibly they completed the additional testing people used to talk about getting a ute classified as a commercial vehicle becuase the rules were different there is also ways to do it by calling the car a replica of something else and there is another set of rules there certainely seems like there is a number of SR20det engineered cars that have popped up over the years but CA18DET is straight forward for an engineer as it meets the formula - SR20det does not - guess it comes down to time and money to jump through the hoops

Seller appears to be located in the ACT, however the car has NSW registration plates.
Before I handed over any cash, I would do the due diligence and verify its engineered and 100% legal for use on public roads etc...

How is this possible? I heard that even under the old Australia rules, a 2 liter turbo was not allowed in a car as light as the 1200?
Is it because it's in the ACT? for sale: 1974 Datsun 1200 Manual You can view topic.
