I've got a camtech in my l16. Not bad. I've been advised to stay away from crow.
All my other cams are wade.

Looks like i might have to change this thread into a build thread.
1200rallycar, Thanks for the advice mate I will get a camshaft from the usual mobs. Only reason im eager about getting the camshaft installed is because ive read you have to remove an a-series engine from the car to install a camshaft. The A15 came as spare so its not in the car @ moment. Car came with headers and full exhaust system and electronic dizzy.Ive got a couple of webers to choose from but will go with the twin 40dcoe2s for this setup. Any idea on how to setup this carbies for street and how to sort out the vaccum? As for the head, i agree i might not see the difference on street. I have a spare a12t head which isn't being used so i might as well use it.The bigger ports and double valve springs should help with top end and high rpm on some track events. But vehicle will be mostly a daily. b310gx, Thanks for your advice mate.Ive done abit more reading and im sold on the 70 degree camshaft.I will ring camtech on monday and enquire more. Also checked out SWmotorsport website and they've got a couple of the items i was after. i.e gx oval port manifold. Thanks heaps This is abit off topic, but whats the process of getting a master copy of camshaft design done? cheers

I've always had success with the factory 70 degree cam grind. Wade cams ( now closed) had masters for this design. I've got one from Camtech here in Sydney, once also from Stewart Wilkins at SWMotorsport, though he gets Camtech to do the grind. Maybe one of the Melbourne members can suggest somebody closer to you.
They might know if somebody like Crow Cams can do something you can use.

I wouldn't get too excited about the cam and getting gx specs. Just go for a mild cam from one of the usual mobs if it's gonna be cheaper.
Get your carburation, exhaust and an elec dizzy well sorted and your gonna have a fun Streeter. If you go an overdrive gearbox you can also afford to go for a better diff ratio I think a gx head wouldn't be necessary if ya have an oval port head anyway

Bigger pistons will return more HP than going to high compression. Going from 9:1 to 10:1 will result in about 2 HP, while going from stock 76mm pistons to 79mm pistons will result in 1607 cc engine. JP pistons in Adelaide will make custom cast pistons, or buy used forged pistons from http://peterzekert.com. Cast is better unless you are doing sustained high-RPM racing.
Try Nissan, they may have some cams left, as it was used in 4 Japan models, plus Nissan Competition sold it. Bprojects sells Nissan gaskets in three thicknesses, including a 79 mm thin gasket.

Thanks for that mate!
Completely forgot about the distributor drive! But prob is where will i find an A15E cam from?? So i guess il just take the a15 cam and get it regrounded to gx cams specs. What other cams specs have guys run and run really well in a15 street cars?car will be a daily hence the reason i want it enginnered for all mods including epa and noise levels. I was after a nismo/tomei just to up the compression abit.Maybe even bigger pistons. Will research more about bigger pistons next year after holiday.wouldnt mind a 1600cc Id rather do everything i can while the engine is out so once its in,i will never touch it again other than maintenance. Cheers

Any A15 head gasket will work to fit an A12 head to an A15 block.
Genuine A12GX cam won't work on an A15 as the distributor drive has moved. But the A15E cam (13001-H5700) will work and has the same profile as GX.

Also after:(Might have to source for this online but thought i put an ad here first)
*Nismo or tomei head gasket to suit a12t head onto a15 block. *Genuine Gx camshaft. Otherwise might get a stock cam reground to similar specs. *Oval port manifold to suit a12t/gx port sizes That's all i can think of at the moment. Cheers You can view topic.
